Therapeutic support for Teens and Young Adults
Where you’ve been doesn’t have to determine where you can go…
We all have a mix of positive and negative internal stories and beliefs. They develop out of our experiences and our instincts to survive and fit in as we grow. These instincts, our “roots,” help us develop beliefs, feelings, thoughts, and interpretations of our past and present experiences.
Sometimes, even with our best intentions, these survival instincts we repeat become blocks in the roads we wish to follow. They somehow just don't serve us in the relationships we hope to create with our loved ones or with ourselves. These patterns leave us feeling stuck, hopeless, frustrated, and alone. Desperately wishing something could change.
With time and support, we can investigate and better understand how this internal narrative impacts our present and future. In therapy, the work of pruning and re-rooting provides the opportunity to become truly free. Looking back with new tools, re-interpreting experiences with new awareness can help turn our actions rooted in unhealthy survival habits into optional rather than compulsory. In this freedom, we are fully equipped to create a life we love.
